Lot 4010 VERY FINE 1864 DATED COLT SPECIAL CONTRACT CIVIL

WAR MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. This survivor has survived in excellent original condition. Standard configuration, steel clamping bands, iron furniture, 40" barrel marked at breech: inspector "M.N.M." & "STEEL", "VP" over eaglehead, dated "1864", three position-2 leaf blued rear sight. Lock is bright with two line Colt address below "U.S.", "1864" at tail. Two bright inspection cartouches stamped in wood opposite lock. Small inspector initials on every metal part. CONDITION: excellent overall, bright metal overall, light staining, crisp markings, stock has 2 well defined cartouches, few small dings & scratches. Mechanically perfect, bright shiny rifled bore.
